AngloGold Ashanti plc
AngloGold Ashanti plc is a globally diversified senior gold producer, redomiciled to the UK (LSE/NYSE/JSE-listed) in 2025, with a portfolio streamlined to 9 operating assets after divesting Serra Grande (Brazil, Dec 2025) and Doropo. Flagship operations include Geita (Tanzania, 100% owned), Tropicana (Australia, 70% JV) and Sunrise Dam (Australia), Iduapriem and the Obuasi redevelopment (Ghana), Siguiri (Guinea), Sukari (Egypt), AngloGold Ashanti Mineração (Brazil), and a 45% joint-venture interest in Kibali (DRC, shared with Barrick Mining, also seeded in this batch). This record covers 4 of the largest via Task #347's Project model: Geita, Tropicana, Sunrise Dam and Obuasi. In Mar 2026 the company also reported a first-time 4.9 Moz Probable Mineral Reserve at the Arthur Gold Project in Nevada, USA, with a positive PFS. Alberto Calderon has been CEO since Sep 2021; Gillian Doran is CFO (Executive Director). Year-end 2025 gold Mineral Reserves were 36.5 million ounces (up from 31.2 Moz in 2024), calculated at a $1,700/oz gold price assumption.

Construction Milestones
5 of 5 reached- Reached — date not disclosed · AngloGold Ashanti operates 9 assets across multiple countries with decades of individual permitting history; no single company-wide permit date exists. Row presence documents that current producing mines are, by definition, permitted. · Source
- Reached — date not disclosed · Same multi-mine caveat as PERMIT_GRANTED -- no single company-wide date represents a portfolio built up since AngloGold's 1998 formation and the 2004 Ashanti Goldfields merger. · Source
- Jan 2018 · Approximate -- anchored to the multi-year Obuasi redevelopment project, the most recent major build/rebuild in the current portfolio. Precise primary-sourced start date not confirmed this pass. · Source
- Dec 2021 · Approximate -- Obuasi's redevelopment first gold pour occurred in Dec 2021 after the multi-year closure/rebuild. Confirms current production status; other assets (e.g. Geita) have produced continuously for far longer. · Source
- Reached — date not disclosed · Genuinely reached, but no single company-wide commercial-production date exists across a global multi-mine portfolio (Sukari in Egypt, Geita in Tanzania, Tropicana and the Kibali JV, Obuasi in Ghana, Iduapriem, Cerro Vanguardia, plus North American assets) assembled over decades. Q2 2026 results (released 2026-08-07) reported group gold production of 744,000 oz (Sukari 119koz, Geita 116koz, Tropicana 93koz attributable, Kibali JV 76koz attributable), confirming ongoing commercial gold production. Note: Miner.country reads Tanzania (Geita is the company's largest single mine there), but this is a global multi-country operator, not Tanzania-only. This row was missing entirely prior to 2026-08-21 -- a genuine data gap (row presence is the signal), not a stage error; Miner.stage was already correctly PRODUCTION. · Source
Milestones are recorded only from a company's own dated disclosure. A milestone with no date shown is one we can confirm was reached but for which no date was disclosed — we don't estimate one. "Not yet reached" means exactly that, not that a date is missing. An "Expected" line likewise only ever reflects the company's own guidance (e.g. a study or permit decision targeted for a stated quarter) — most not-yet-reached milestones have none, and that absence means no such guidance has been disclosed, not that one is overdue.
Combined view across 4 projects. Figures below are only combined where the underlying basis genuinely matches -- see the notes under each.
A relative ranking of how closely this company matches the profile of juniors that have actually been acquired — not a probability, and not a reason to buy. Acquisitions are rare: only a few dozen significant deals happen a year across a universe of thousands of juniors, so even a high score here describes a long shot. The strongest signal the underlying research identifies — whether a major already holds a JV, earn-in, or 5–19.9% strategic stake — isn't tracked yet and is absent from this score.

AngloGold Ashanti is a multi-mine producer operating four economically-distinct, separately-studied assets carried as Project rows: Geita (Tanzania, 100%), Tropicana (Australia, 70% AGA/30% Regis Resources JV), Sunrise Dam (Australia, 100%) and Obuasi (Ghana, 100%, redeveloped underground mine). AGA also holds other producing/development assets not yet carried as Project rows here (e.g. Iduapriem/Ghana, Cerro Vanguardia/Argentina, Siguiri/Guinea, and the newly-declared Arthur Gold Project/Nevada, USA -- a first-time 4.9 Moz Reserve with its own PFS economics per AGA's 25 Mar 2026 release). Per playbook Sec 7.1, company-level dcfNpvUsd/irrPct/mineLifeYears are deliberately left null rather than represented by one asset's figures -- see the Projects tab. Obuasi's own economics: the redevelopment project (phase 1 completed 2019, phase 2 completed 2020) required an estimated GBP423m (~US$545M) investment, targeting average annual production of 400,000 oz Au at 8.1 g/t over the initial decade of operation (rising toward 450,000 oz in the following decade), over a mine life of more than 20 years, per nsenergybusiness.com's project profile. No after-tax NPV/IRR figure for the Obuasi redevelopment was found disclosed in that source or in the other sources checked this pass (AGA's SEC Technical Report Summary exhibit for Obuasi returned a 403 on direct fetch, and was not otherwise located in extractable form) -- a genuine access-limited gap, not a confirmed non-disclosure. No NPV/IRR figures were found for Geita, Tropicana, or Sunrise Dam either. ouncesFound (36.5 Moz Mineral Reserves, 31 Dec 2025) was already correctly cited before this pass and is unchanged.
