Chief Executive Officer and Director of Atalaya Mining plc, joined the Company in 2014. Galician mining engineer (born O Carballino), graduate of the Oviedo School of Mines. 40+ years in the mining and metallurgical sector, one of the most internationally recognised Spaniards in the field. Career: COO then CEO/President of Rio Narcea Gold Mines (1995-2007), starting up three real mining projects from exploration to production (Aguablanca nickel; El Valle and Boinas gold); Director of Samref Overseas SA (2007-2014), involved in developing the real, major Mutanda Copper-Cobalt Mine (DRC), immediately before Atalaya. Earlier career in the Spanish subsidiaries of Rio Tinto Plc, Anglo American and Cominco.
