Western Metallica Resources Corp.
Western Metallica Resources Corp. (TSXV: WMS) is a Toronto-based gold explorer whose projects are all in Spain. Its principal asset is the 100%-owned Penedela gold property in the Navelgas Gold Belt of Asturias, whose permit was due to expire on 17 Aug 2026 and was being renewed; it also has the early-stage Valledor gold project (licence to 19 Nov 2026) and an interest in the Sierra Alta gold project in the same belt. Its Nueva Celti copper project in Andalusia is under an exclusive option to Ajax Resources, which may buy the Spanish subsidiary that owns it for US$300,000 (US$100,000 in cash and US$200,000 in Ajax shares); the exclusivity runs to 30 Oct 2026 and the sale still needs shareholder approval. The company ended its option on the Caña Brava copper project in Peru in June 2025. In July 2026 it consolidated its shares 3-for-1 and issued 2,466,667 post-consolidation shares to settle $370,000 owed to its CEO, leaving 5,278,727 shares outstanding. No mineral resource estimate has been published for any of its properties.
Lifecycle Milestones
Combined view across 2 projects. Figures below are only combined where the underlying basis genuinely matches -- see the notes under each.
Jurisdiction (40%)8/10
Western Metallica's principal asset, the Penedela gold property, is in Asturias, Spain, an EU mining jurisdiction with an established permitting system; scored 8 in line with the other Spanish companies on this site. Penedela's permit came up for renewal in August 2026.
Infrastructure (40%)No verified figure
Researched with nothing found: no source we could cite confirms or rules out an existing mill, road access, grid power, or tailings facility at Penedela Gold Project, Navelgas Gold Belt, Asturias, Spain (checked Oct 5, 2026; recheck due Apr 3, 2027). Counts at a neutral 5/10 until one does.
Nearby producing mine (20%)Not yet researched
No project coordinates on file yet, so distance to a producing mine can't be measured.
Acquisition Susceptibility
A relative ranking of how closely this company matches the profile of juniors that have actually been acquired — not a probability, and not a reason to buy. Acquisitions are rare: only a few dozen significant deals happen a year across a universe of thousands of juniors, so even a high score here describes a long shot. The strongest signal in the research, a producer that already owns part of the company, is scored from its disclosed strategic shareholders. A producer that is a joint-venture or earn-in partner on the project, rather than a shareholder, isn't captured yet.
How this score is built
- Disclosed pending dealSub-score: Not scored
A disclosed corporate action (not an acquisition or merger)
A corporate action of this kind says nothing about takeover susceptibility, so it isn't scored.
Weight 26.25% - Producer's strategic stakeSub-score: Not scored
No producer holds a disclosed stake on file (holder register researched) See holders
Not scored: most juniors that do get bought had no prior toehold, so a missing stake says little either way.
Weight 25% - Distance to a producing mineSub-score: Not yet researched
Distance not yet researched: no project coordinates on file
Distance can't be measured without coordinates, so excluded rather than counted as far.
Weight 22.5% - Lifecycle stageSub-score:1/10
Stage: Grassroots Exploration
Feasibility and permitting score 10, where deals cluster, and production 5.5; earlier stages score less, down to 1 at grassroots.
