Construction Milestones

5 of 5 reached
  1. Reached — date not disclosed · Burkina Faso's Council of Ministers approved the 26km2 Sanbrado mining permit in January 2017 (environmental approval followed in April 2018). Exact day not found in available primary sourcing -- recorded reached-but-undated rather than inventing a specific day. · Source
  2. Reached — date not disclosed · Taurus Funds Management US$200M debt facility for Sanbrado construction financing, closed following a five-month competitive process (14 proposals) alongside the June 2018 definitive feasibility study -- no separately labeled FID release or exact closing date found in available primary sourcing (see script header); recorded reached-but-undated. · Source
  3. Reached — date not disclosed · Early construction works at Sanbrado started July 2018 per company reporting; exact day not found in available primary sourcing -- recorded reached-but-undated. · Source
  4. Mar 2020 · First gold pour at Sanbrado -- 23.9kg (768 troy oz), six months ahead of schedule and US$20M under budget; the mine that took WAF from developer to producer (see header note re: Kiaka). · Source
  5. Reached — date not disclosed · ASX-listed West African does not use the TSX-style 'declares commercial production' term for Sanbrado either (same convention gap as EMR above) -- contemporary coverage reports the plant exceeding nameplate throughput (2 Mtpa) within days of the March 18, 2020 first pour already on file, the closest real, dated equivalent. No discrete 'commercial production declared' release found -- recorded reached-but-undated. · Source

Milestones are recorded only from a company's own dated disclosure. A milestone with no date shown is one we can confirm was reached but for which no date was disclosed — we don't estimate one. "Not yet reached" means exactly that, not that a date is missing. An "Expected" line likewise only ever reflects the company's own guidance (e.g. a study or permit decision targeted for a stated quarter) — most not-yet-reached milestones have none, and that absence means no such guidance has been disclosed, not that one is overdue.

Acquisition Susceptibility
5.9/10
Unlikely bolt-onFits the takeout profile

A relative ranking of how closely this company matches the profile of juniors that have actually been acquired — not a probability, and not a reason to buy. Acquisitions are rare: only a few dozen significant deals happen a year across a universe of thousands of juniors, so even a high score here describes a long shot. The strongest signal the underlying research identifies — whether a major already holds a JV, earn-in, or 5–19.9% strategic stake — isn't tracked yet and is absent from this score.

Insiders, Investors & Smart Money

Smart money
2/10

Dedicated gold funds do hold West African Resources -- VanEck's two actively managed gold funds together held 5.6%, and Sprott's vehicles a further 3.9%. The serious caveat is that every one of those holder records is from late 2020 or early 2021, and the company has gone from developer to producer since, so treat the register as historic rather than current. What is current is insider selling: six on-market sales by four directors between Nov 2025 and Jun 2026, and no purchases at all.
