GoldCandelones Project (Candelones Main/Connector + Candelones Extension), Neita Sur Concession, Dominican Republic Map

Unigold Inc. is a gold explorer/developer advancing the Neita concession, including the Candelones Oxide deposit, in the Dominican Republic. An updated Micon mineral resource estimate (effective 6 Aug 2026), consolidating all Candelones mineralization and superseding the May 2021 estimate, reports 69.1Mt @ 1.03 g/t Au for 2.291Moz gold Measured & Indicated (plus 4.3Moz silver and 131.9Mlb copper) and 203,000oz gold Inferred; Unigold now plans to treat all material types through a single flotation plant rather than the heap-leach oxide concept. A positive feasibility study on the Candelones Oxide project was completed in Nov 2022. The company's Exploitation Concession, needed to move Candelones toward production, remains pending presidential approval; separately, local authorities and residents of Restauracion (Dajabon Province) formally petitioned (725 signatures) the President and relevant Ministries in Sept 2026 in support of initiating a full Environmental and Social Impact Assessment for the broader Neita project, and the company's existing work permits (renewed early Apr 2026) remain in good standing with no interruption to its 2026 work programs expected, notwithstanding an unrelated mining-sector halt affecting a different Dominican project.

Milestones are recorded only from a company's own dated disclosure. A milestone with no date shown is one we can confirm was reached but for which no date was disclosed — we don't estimate one. "Not yet reached" means exactly that, not that a date is missing. An "Expected" line likewise only ever reflects the company's own guidance (e.g. a study or permit decision targeted for a stated quarter) — most not-yet-reached milestones have none, and that absence means no such guidance has been disclosed, not that one is overdue.

What goes into it
  • Jurisdiction (40%)6/10

The Dominican Republic has an established mining sector (Pueblo Viejo, Cerro de Maimon) and stable rule of law relative to many Latin American peers, but the company's Exploitation Concession for Neita remains pending presidential approval -- a real permitting-timeline risk reflected in this score.

  • Infrastructure (40%)4.3/10

Confirmed road access, no confirmed grid power, and no confirmed tailings facility at Candelones Oxide Gold Project, Neita Sur Concession, Dominican Republic; existing mill not yet researched, counted at a neutral 5/10 until established.

  • Nearby producing mine (20%)Not yet researched

No producing mine within 50 km in our reference list (nearest listed: Cerro Matoso (CoreX Holding), 1335 km). That list doesn't cover every mining district yet, so a longer distance isn't scored as remote.

Acquisition Susceptibility

How this is calculated
4.8/10
Unlikely bolt-onFits the takeout profile

A relative ranking of how closely this company matches the profile of juniors that have actually been acquired — not a probability, and not a reason to buy. Acquisitions are rare: only a few dozen significant deals happen a year across a universe of thousands of juniors, so even a high score here describes a long shot. The strongest signal in the research, a producer that already owns part of the company, is scored from its disclosed strategic shareholders. A producer that is a joint-venture or earn-in partner on the project, rather than a shareholder, isn't captured yet.

How this score is built

  • Disclosed pending deal
    Sub-score: Not scored

No pending acquisition or merger disclosed (checked)

Not scored: having no deal in flight isn't held against a company.

  • Producer's strategic stake
    Sub-score: Not scored

No producer holds a disclosed stake on file (holder register researched) See holders

Not scored: most juniors that do get bought had no prior toehold, so a missing stake says little either way.

Technical Report Takeaways

Unigold is advancing the Candelones gold project on its 100%-owned Neita Sur Concession in the Dominican Republic. An updated Micon resource estimate, effective 6 August 2026, contains 2,291,000 oz of gold in measured and indicated resources (1,125,000 oz measured and 1,167,000 oz indicated, in 69.1 Mt at 1.03 g/t), plus 203,000 oz inferred, with silver and copper as by-products. The November 2022 feasibility study covered only an oxide heap-leach starter project, with an after-tax NPV5% of US$30.6M and a 43.6% IRR at US$1,650/oz gold over a 3.3-year mine life; with the larger resource, Unigold now plans to treat all material types through a single flotation plant. The Exploitation Concession needed to move Candelones toward production is awaiting presidential approval, and in September 2026 local authorities and residents of Restauración petitioned the President, with 725 signatures, in support of a full environmental and social impact assessment for the broader Neita project.
