Terramin Australia Limited (ASX: TZN) is an Adelaide-based base and precious-metals developer, ASX-listed since 2003, with three assets. Tala Hamza, one of the world's largest undeveloped zinc-lead deposits, is held via a 49% interest in Bejaia Zinc & Lead Spa (BZL), a joint venture with two Algerian state-owned entities holding the remaining 51% (Enterprise Nationale des Produits Miniers Non-Ferreux et des Substances Utiles Spa, 48.5%, and Office National de Recherche Geologique et Miniere, 2.5%); Terramin holds management rights over the JV. After years of delay, the Algerian mining regulator issued the Mining Permit for Tala Hamza in May 2023, and site preparation (site access and clearing, operational and laydown areas, early ground preparation) commenced in March 2026. Long-term project financing negotiations with a state-owned Algerian bank are described as 'well advanced'; total project investment is estimated at US$471M. Terramin also wholly owns two South Australian assets: Bird-in-Hand, a high-grade gold project near Woodside in the Adelaide Hills, whose land was returned to Terramin's Exploration Licence 6447 by a March 2026 Court of Appeal ruling that set aside a 2023 mining-reservation proclamation; and Angas, a past-producing zinc mine (closed) at Strathalbyn with a remaining resource.

Milestones are recorded only from a company's own dated disclosure. A milestone with no date shown is one we can confirm was reached but for which no date was disclosed — we don't estimate one. "Not yet reached" means exactly that, not that a date is missing. An "Expected" line likewise only ever reflects the company's own guidance (e.g. a study or permit decision targeted for a stated quarter) — most not-yet-reached milestones have none, and that absence means no such guidance has been disclosed, not that one is overdue.

What goes into it
  • Jurisdiction (40%)5/10

Tala Hamza, the project that sets the company's stage, is in Bejaia Province, Algeria, where it saw years of delay before its 2023 mining permit and a 2026 start to site works. Algeria brings state-partner, bureaucratic, legal and currency-control risk, offset by strengthening government support: a granted permit, Investment Promotion Agency registration with tax exemptions and concessional financing, and government-funded land acquisition.

  • Infrastructure (40%)2.1/10

No confirmed road access and no confirmed grid power at Tala Hamza Zinc-Lead Project, Bejaia, Algeria; existing mill and tailings facility not yet researched, counted at a neutral 5/10 until established.

  • Nearby producing mine (20%)Not yet researched

No project coordinates on file yet, so distance to a producing mine can't be measured.

Acquisition Susceptibility

How this is calculated
5.6/10
Unlikely bolt-onFits the takeout profile

A relative ranking of how closely this company matches the profile of juniors that have actually been acquired — not a probability, and not a reason to buy. Acquisitions are rare: only a few dozen significant deals happen a year across a universe of thousands of juniors, so even a high score here describes a long shot. The strongest signal in the research, a producer that already owns part of the company, is scored from its disclosed strategic shareholders. A producer that is a joint-venture or earn-in partner on the project, rather than a shareholder, isn't captured yet.

Technical Report Takeaways

Terramin Australia is developing the Tala Hamza zinc-lead project in Algeria, one of the world's largest undeveloped zinc-lead deposits, through a 49% interest in Bejaia Zinc & Lead, a joint venture with two Algerian state-owned companies that hold the other 51%, with Terramin holding management rights. On a 100% basis the resource is about 53 Mt at 5.3% zinc and 1.3% lead, with a probable ore reserve of 25.9 Mt at 6.3% zinc and 1.8% lead supporting more than 20 years at 2.0 Mtpa under the March 2026 updated mining study, and total project investment is estimated at US$471M. Algeria's mining regulator issued the mining permit in May 2023, site preparation began in March 2026, and long-term financing with a state-owned Algerian bank is described as well advanced. Terramin also wholly owns the high-grade Bird-in-Hand gold project in South Australia's Adelaide Hills, whose land a March 2026 Court of Appeal ruling returned to its exploration licence, and the closed Angas zinc mine at Strathalbyn, which retains a remaining resource.
