Podium Minerals Limited (ASX: POD; formerly Weld Range Metals), based in West Perth, holds two adjacent projects in the Weld Range of Western Australia's Mid-West region, between Cue and Meekatharra. Despite its focus on platinum-group metals, its largest resource is nickel: the Range Well nickel laterite project, 100% owned since Podium acquired EV Nickel's oxide rights in February 2025, has a maiden JORC resource (March 2026) of 363 Mt at 0.73% nickel containing 2.63 Mt of nickel, 247 Mt of it Indicated. Its stated flagship, the Parks Reef project, holds an Inferred resource of 183 Mt at 1.30 g/t 5E PGM for 7.6 Moz of platinum, palladium, rhodium, iridium and gold in its PGM Zone, plus a Copper-Gold Zone, with copper, nickel and cobalt; it is modelled only to 250m depth although drilling has intersected the reef at 500m. No economic study has been completed for either project, and metallurgical work at Parks Reef continues toward a future feasibility study.

What goes into it
  • Jurisdiction (40%)9/10

Western Australia: Fraser PPI 2025 is 88.53 of 100 (rank 13 of 68), which maps to 9 on this site's scale. Western Australia (Mid-West region) is a Tier-1, well-established Australian mining jurisdiction.

  • Infrastructure (40%)No verified figure

Researched with nothing found: no source we could cite confirms or rules out an existing mill, road access, grid power, or tailings facility at Parks Reef Project, Mid-West Region, Western Australia (checked Sep 26, 2026; recheck due Mar 25, 2027). Counts at a neutral 5/10 until one does.

  • Nearby producing mine (20%)Not yet researched

No producing mine within 50 km in our reference list (nearest listed: Big Bell (incl. Fender) (Westgold Resources Limited), 54 km). That list doesn't cover every mining district yet, so a longer distance isn't scored as remote.

Acquisition Susceptibility

How this is calculated
4.9/10
Unlikely bolt-onFits the takeout profile

A relative ranking of how closely this company matches the profile of juniors that have actually been acquired — not a probability, and not a reason to buy. Acquisitions are rare: only a few dozen significant deals happen a year across a universe of thousands of juniors, so even a high score here describes a long shot. The strongest signal in the research, a producer that already owns part of the company, is scored from its disclosed strategic shareholders. A producer that is a joint-venture or earn-in partner on the project, rather than a shareholder, isn't captured yet.

How this score is built

  • Disclosed pending deal
    Sub-score: Not scored

No pending acquisition or merger disclosed (checked)

Not scored: having no deal in flight isn't held against a company.

    Sub-score: Not scored

No producer holds a disclosed stake on file (holder register researched) See holders

Not scored: most juniors that do get bought had no prior toehold, so a missing stake says little either way.

Technical Report Takeaways

Podium Minerals, formerly Weld Range Metals, explores the Parks Reef project in Western Australia's Mid-West region for the platinum-group metals platinum, palladium, rhodium and iridium, alongside nickel, copper, cobalt and gold. Its JORC resource, from announcements of 3 April 2024 for the PGM zone and 19 May 2025 for the copper-gold zone, is 183 Mt at 1.30 g/t 5E PGM for 7.6 Moz of contained 5E PGM, with grades of 0.64 g/t platinum, 0.52 g/t palladium, 0.07 g/t gold, 0.05 g/t rhodium and 0.02 g/t iridium, plus 103 kt of copper, 143 kt of nickel and 27 kt of cobalt. That resource is entirely in the inferred category, and it is modelled only to 250m depth although drill holes have intersected the reef at 500m. In March 2026 Podium also reported a maiden resource for the adjacent Range Well nickel project of 363 Mt at 0.73% nickel, containing 2.63 Mt of nickel, with 247 Mt in the indicated category. No economic study has been completed, and processing and metallurgical work is under way ahead of a future definitive feasibility study.
