Norfolk Metals Ltd
Norfolk Metals Limited is an Australian-listed explorer attempting to reinvent itself as a Chilean copper company. It 100% owns the early-stage Orroroo Uranium Project (South Australia, EL6552/EL6814/EL6948) -- its Roger River licence in Tasmania (EL20/2020) expired on 15 August 2026 -- plus a non-vested earn-in on the Carmen Copper Project (Atacama, Chile) and a pending acquisition of Condor Peak (Chile); none of these has any resource estimate or study. On 11 June 2026 Norfolk signed a binding share purchase agreement with Pampa Camarones SpA to acquire 100% of the entities holding the Ciclon Copper Project (Domeyko Cordillera, Chile) for US$45 million cash plus US$5 million in shares, and on 19 June 2026 announced a JORC 2012 Mineral Resource Estimate for Ciclon of 11.8 Mt at 2.88% CuEq (Indicated 8.0 Mt at 2.93% CuEq plus Inferred 3.8 Mt at 2.80% CuEq), converted by OMNI GeoX Pty Ltd from a December 2019 NI 43-101 foreign estimate. That acquisition has not completed: conditions precedent remain unsatisfied, Norfolk paid a US$250,000 extension fee to move the end date from 13 July to 13 September 2026, and completion is conditional on a minimum A$100 million public offer and ASX Chapters 1-2 re-compliance. Norfolk held A$0.8 million cash at 30 June 2026 and its shares have been suspended from quotation since 11 March 2026, appearing on ASX's Long Term Suspended Entities list as at 10 July 2026 with no reinstatement announced as of 7 October 2026, and the end date of 13 September 2026 has passed without an announced extension, completion or termination. The assets Norfolk actually holds are all pre-resource. No mining study, ore reserve estimate, scoping study or feasibility study has been completed on Ciclon or on any other Norfolk project.
Lifecycle Milestones
Jurisdiction (40%)8/10
Primary listed assets (Orroroo Uranium, South Australia; Roger River, Tasmania) are Tier-1 Australian jurisdiction. Score set slightly below the usual 9/10 for pure-Australia miners because the company's other earn-in target, the Carmen Copper Project, is in Chile -- a solid but separately-risked Latin American jurisdiction not blended into this single score.
Infrastructure (40%)Not yet researched
No flagship project on file yet, so existing mill, road access, grid power, and tailings facility haven't been researched.
Nearby producing mine (20%)Not yet researched
No project coordinates on file yet, so distance to a producing mine can't be measured.
Acquisition Susceptibility
A relative ranking of how closely this company matches the profile of juniors that have actually been acquired — not a probability, and not a reason to buy. Acquisitions are rare: only a few dozen significant deals happen a year across a universe of thousands of juniors, so even a high score here describes a long shot. The strongest signal in the research, a producer that already owns part of the company, is scored from its disclosed strategic shareholders. A producer that is a joint-venture or earn-in partner on the project, rather than a shareholder, isn't captured yet.
How this score is built
- Disclosed pending dealSub-score: Not scored
A disclosed corporate action (not an acquisition or merger)
A corporate action of this kind says nothing about takeover susceptibility, so it isn't scored.
Weight 26.25% - Producer's strategic stakeSub-score: Not scored
No producer holds a disclosed stake on file (holder register researched) See holders
Not scored: most juniors that do get bought had no prior toehold, so a missing stake says little either way.
Weight 25% - Distance to a producing mineSub-score: Not yet researched
Distance not yet researched: no project coordinates on file
Distance can't be measured without coordinates, so excluded rather than counted as far.
Weight 22.5% - Lifecycle stageSub-score:1/10
Stage: Grassroots Exploration
Feasibility and permitting score 10, where deals cluster, and production 5.5; earlier stages score less, down to 1 at grassroots.
