Mkango Magnetic Materials Limited (TSX-V and AIM: MKA), named Mkango Resources Ltd. until 23 September 2026, when it renamed itself to reflect a shift toward the downstream rare earth supply chain of magnet recycling and manufacturing, is a Canadian rare-earths company and 100% owner (via its Mkango Rare Earths subsidiary, formerly Lancaster Exploration) of the Songwe Hill Rare Earths Project in Malawi, alongside a downstream Pulawy Rare Earth Separation Plant project in Poland and rare-earth magnet recycling businesses: HyProMag, developed through its 79.4%-owned Maginito in the UK, Germany and the United States, and, since 31 August 2026, Remloy, a 100%-owned magnet recycling plant in Bitterfeld, Germany. Mkango's March 2026 updated Definitive Feasibility Study for Songwe Hill outlines an 18-year mine life producing an average 5,954 tonnes/year of mixed rare-earth carbonate (55% TREO, dry basis) over the first five full years, post-tax NPV10% of US$339 million, 24.3% IRR and a 3.4-year payback, with initial capital of US$325.5 million (including US$27.8M contingency). A parallel PFS was completed for the Pulawy separation plant in Poland the same month.

Acquisition Susceptibility

How this is calculated
7.8/10
Unlikely bolt-onFits the takeout profile

A relative ranking of how closely this company matches the profile of juniors that have actually been acquired — not a probability, and not a reason to buy. Acquisitions are rare: only a few dozen significant deals happen a year across a universe of thousands of juniors, so even a high score here describes a long shot. The strongest signal in the research, a producer that already owns part of the company, is scored from its disclosed strategic shareholders. A producer that is a joint-venture or earn-in partner on the project, rather than a shareholder, isn't captured yet.

How this score is built

  • Disclosed pending deal
    Sub-score:
    8.5/10

    Disclosed pending merger

A disclosed pending acquisition scores 10 and a merger 8.5; any other corporate action, none, or a deal in which the company is the buyer isn't scored.

    Sub-score: Not scored

Not scored: most juniors that do get bought had no prior toehold, so a missing stake says little either way.
