CopperMarimaca Copper Project, Antofagasta Region, Chile Map

Marimaca Copper is advancing the Marimaca Copper Project, a copper oxide deposit in northern Chile amenable to conventional heap-leach/SX-EW processing. An August 2025 Definitive Feasibility Study outlined a 50,000-tonne/year copper cathode operation with a 13-year mine life, and the company has since raised roughly US$300M toward a construction decision, positioning it as one of the more advanced pre-production copper juniors globally.

A relative ranking of how closely this company matches the profile of juniors that have actually been acquired — not a probability, and not a reason to buy. Acquisitions are rare: only a few dozen significant deals happen a year across a universe of thousands of juniors, so even a high score here describes a long shot. The strongest signal the underlying research identifies — whether a major already holds a JV, earn-in, or 5–19.9% strategic stake — isn't tracked yet and is absent from this score.

Assore International Holdings, the offshore arm of the South African mining house Assore, is Marimaca's anchor shareholder and has kept writing cheques. It took 14.99% in August 2024 for C$68M -- C$42.4M buying shares from Tembo Capital plus a C$25.8M placement -- then bought 756,695 more shares at C$10 in September 2025 and another 4,170,000 at C$10 in February 2026, roughly C$49M of follow-on cash. Greenstone Resources, the mining private equity firm that backed the company early, is going the other way: it has fallen from 22.28% to around 6% through an in-specie distribution to its partners and two secondary offerings. Management has been selling steadily too -- four directors and officers sold across the past year, with no offsetting open-market buying.
