Liberty Metals Limited (ASX: LIB; formerly Traka Resources Limited, renamed in October 2025) is a Subiaco-based explorer whose principal focus is now gold in Guyana: in August 2026 it entered an option agreement to acquire a 90% interest in the Oko North and Oko South gold projects, 40 granted mining permits covering about 180 km2 in the Oko gold district, for staged payments totalling US$8 million over four years, an agreement it may terminate at any time. Mapping and a soil sampling program began there in August 2026. It also holds 100% of the Paraiba, Rio Grande and Alcobaca titanium, heavy-mineral-sands and rare-earth projects in Brazil, acquired in the year to June 2026, and keeps its Australian interests at Gorge Creek in Queensland and Cranbrook under review after selling the Mt Cattlin project. None of its projects has a mineral resource. Shareholders are to vote at a general meeting in October 2026 on renaming the company El Dorado Goldfields Ltd, with its ASX code expected to change to EDO.

What goes into it
  • Jurisdiction (40%)6/10

Guyana: scored 6 in line with the other Guyana companies on this site (Omai Gold, XAU Resources, Tajiri Resources and U92 Energy). Liberty's stated focus, the Oko North and Oko South gold projects in Guyana's Cuyuni Mining District, sets the country although they are held under an option; its Brazilian and Australian projects are not blended into the score.

  • Infrastructure (40%)No verified figure

Researched with nothing found: no source we could cite confirms or rules out an existing mill, road access, grid power, or tailings facility at Oko North and Oko South Gold Projects, Cuyuni Mining District, Guyana (checked Oct 7, 2026; recheck due Apr 5, 2027). Counts at a neutral 5/10 until one does.

  • Nearby producing mine (20%)Not yet researched

No project coordinates on file yet, so distance to a producing mine can't be measured.

Acquisition Susceptibility

How this is calculated
3.8/10
Unlikely bolt-onFits the takeout profile

A relative ranking of how closely this company matches the profile of juniors that have actually been acquired — not a probability, and not a reason to buy. Acquisitions are rare: only a few dozen significant deals happen a year across a universe of thousands of juniors, so even a high score here describes a long shot. The strongest signal in the research, a producer that already owns part of the company, is scored from its disclosed strategic shareholders. A producer that is a joint-venture or earn-in partner on the project, rather than a shareholder, isn't captured yet.

A corporate action of this kind says nothing about takeover susceptibility, so it isn't scored.

Not scored: most juniors that do get bought had no prior toehold, so a missing stake says little either way.
