GreenLight Metals Inc. (TSXV: GRL, OTCQB: GRLMF) is a Medford, Wisconsin-headquartered exploration company advancing copper-gold and gold targets in North America, led by President & CEO Matt Filgate (B.Sc.) since April 2024 and CFO/Corporate Secretary David Carew. Its flagship is the Bend Project in Taylor County, Wisconsin, a volcanogenic massive sulfide (VMS) copper-gold deposit on the underexplored Penokean Volcanic Belt. In 2025 GreenLight completed Bend's first drill program in more than a decade (six holes, 2,037 metres), reporting intercepts including 30.7 m of 1.05% Cu and 1.34 g/t Au (2.49% CuEq) and confirming continuity and strengthening of copper-gold-tellurium mineralization down-dip and along strike. 2026 plans include two drill rigs at Bend, a Notice of Intent to drill ~7,000 m on the Soo Mineral Lease, downhole EM surveying, and building a geologic model toward a future maiden NI 43-101 resource estimate -- explicitly a forward goal, not something achieved yet. Elsewhere in Wisconsin, GreenLight holds the Reef high-grade gold project (currently in historical-data compilation/digitization) and the Lobo/Lobo East VMS targets (baseline environmental work and permitting underway). In Nevada, GreenLight signed a binding joint-venture term sheet with a subsidiary of Barrick Mining Corporation on the Kalium Canyon epithermal gold project (Esmeralda County, Walker Lane): Barrick may earn an initial 60% by funding US$7.5 million of exploration and paying GreenLight US$1 million in cash over six years -- real third-party technical and financial validation from a major. GreenLight closed a C$11.5 million bought-deal financing in November 2025 (32,890,000 shares at C$0.35, joint bookrunners Stifel Nicolaus Canada Inc. and TD Securities Inc.) earmarked for Bend development, Penokean Belt exploration, and general corporate purposes. As of the 10 Jun 2026 AGM, the board is Barry Hildred (Chair; founder, The Equicom Group; former Chair & CEO, Aquila Resources; former Chair, Aldridge Minerals), Ryan T. Bennett (former Partner, Resource Capital Funds), William Johnson Jr., Mary E. Juetten, Angela Pakes (President & CEO, Forward Janesville, Inc.), and Gordon Reid (former VP & COO, Centerra Gold) -- Jason Kosec and Stephen Donohue did not stand for re-election at that meeting (Donohue moved into an operational VP, Wisconsin role).

What goes into it
  • Jurisdiction (40%)7/10

Split jurisdiction, scored to the binding constraint. The flagship, most-advanced project (Bend) sits in Taylor County, Wisconsin -- a state that operated under an effective ban on new sulfide-ore mine permits for nearly 20 years (the 1998 'Prove It First' law) until its repeal by 2017 Wisconsin Act 134. Permitting is legally open again, but Wisconsin has no modern track record of an actual metallic sulfide mine being permitted and built since that repeal -- a different risk profile from an established mining state, even though rule of law and institutional stability are not in question. The secondary project, Kalium Canyon (Esmeralda County, Nevada), sits in a top-tier US mining jurisdiction with deep permitting precedent, and is further de-risked by its JV partner: a subsidiary of Barrick Mining Corporation, under a binding earn-in term sheet, carries the exploration spend there.

  • Infrastructure (40%)6.4/10

Confirmed road access at Bend Copper-Gold VMS Project, Taylor County, Wisconsin, USA; existing mill, grid power, and tailings facility not yet researched, counted at a neutral 5/10 until established.

  • Nearby producing mine (20%)Not yet researched

No project coordinates on file yet, so distance to a producing mine can't be measured.

Acquisition Susceptibility

How this is calculated
3.7/10
Unlikely bolt-onFits the takeout profile

A relative ranking of how closely this company matches the profile of juniors that have actually been acquired — not a probability, and not a reason to buy. Acquisitions are rare: only a few dozen significant deals happen a year across a universe of thousands of juniors, so even a high score here describes a long shot. The strongest signal in the research, a producer that already owns part of the company, is scored from its disclosed strategic shareholders. A producer that is a joint-venture or earn-in partner on the project, rather than a shareholder, isn't captured yet.

How this score is built

  • Disclosed pending deal
    Sub-score: Not scored

No pending acquisition or merger disclosed (checked)

Not scored: having no deal in flight isn't held against a company.

  • Producer's strategic stake
    Sub-score: Not scored

No producer holds a disclosed stake on file (holder register researched) See holders

Not scored: most juniors that do get bought had no prior toehold, so a missing stake says little either way.

Technical Report Takeaways

GreenLight Metals' flagship is the Bend copper-gold volcanogenic massive sulphide project in Taylor County, Wisconsin, on the Penokean volcanic belt. A 1992 historical estimate of 4.0 million tonnes at 1.74% copper and 2.44 g/t gold does not comply with NI 43-101 and the company does not treat it as a current resource, and no current resource of any category has been published. Drilling in 2025 returned intercepts including 30.7 m of 1.05% copper and 1.34 g/t gold, a later hole returned 52.18 m of 1.12 g/t gold, and the company is building a geological model toward a maiden NI 43-101 resource. In Nevada, a subsidiary of Barrick may earn an initial 60% of the Kalium Canyon epithermal gold project by funding US$7.5 million of exploration and paying GreenLight US$1 million over six years, and in Wisconsin GreenLight also holds the Reef gold project and the Lobo and Lobo East targets.
