Gem Resources Plc, incorporated in 2005 and renamed from URA Holdings Plc in September 2024, is a London-listed coloured-gemstone company restarting the historic Gravelotte Emerald Mine in Limpopo Province, South Africa. Gravelotte produced close to 113 million carats between 1929 and 1982 and ranked among the world's largest emerald mines through the 1950s and 1960s. Gem Resources began hard-rock mining at the Cobra open pit in January 2025 and completed a Phase 1 site and processing-plant upgrade that lifted capacity roughly 45% to as much as 100 tonnes per day. In April 2025 it sold a first trial parcel of 8,130 carats of mixed-grade emeralds at US$5.29 per carat, with by-product sales taking total test proceeds to about US$57,000, and it reported GBP 45,000 of revenue against a GBP 386,000 loss after tax for the six months to December 2025. Group cash stood at GBP 1.61 million at that date, up from GBP 414,000, following a September funding package of a GBP 617,320 equity subscription and a GBP 1.5 million convertible loan note. The company also holds a 65% interest in the Curlew Emerald Mine in Western Australia. Gem Resources holds a maiden JORC (2012) Inferred Mineral Resource at Gravelotte, completed by ACA Howe in late 2022 while the company still traded as URA Holdings Plc: a Cobra deposit estimate of 1.2Mt @ 6.4 g/t (19.4 million carats contained) and a Discovery deposit estimate of 0.7Mt @ 5.7 g/t (9.6 million carats contained), combined roughly 1.9Mt at approximately 29 million carats, entirely Inferred and still actively referenced by the company in operational updates through 2025; it has published no economic study. A separate company estimate of up to 344 million carats of remaining potential at Gravelotte is a non-JORC exploration target, not a compliant resource, and is not recorded as one here.

Unlikely bolt-onFits the takeout profile

A relative ranking of how closely this company matches the profile of juniors that have actually been acquired — not a probability, and not a reason to buy. Acquisitions are rare: only a few dozen significant deals happen a year across a universe of thousands of juniors, so even a high score here describes a long shot. The strongest signal the underlying research identifies — whether a major already holds a JV, earn-in, or 5–19.9% strategic stake — isn't tracked yet and is absent from this score.
