Unlikely bolt-onFits the takeout profile

A relative ranking of how closely this company matches the profile of juniors that have actually been acquired — not a probability, and not a reason to buy. Acquisitions are rare: only a few dozen significant deals happen a year across a universe of thousands of juniors, so even a high score here describes a long shot. The strongest signal the underlying research identifies — whether a major already holds a JV, earn-in, or 5–19.9% strategic stake — isn't tracked yet and is absent from this score.

Insiders, Investors & Smart Money

Notable shareholders and insiders whose involvement is worth knowing about, plus what we're seeing from institutional/large-investor activity.

Smart money
3/10

BlackRock has built a 15.53% position in FireFly and did it by buying on-market -- an initial 5.1% in April 2026, then up to 14.50%, then to 15.53% via purchases on 8 and 9 July 2026 at an average of A$1.75 a share, disclosed in a Form 604 lodged on 24 July. A stake of that size accumulated that quickly is not index-tracking behaviour, so we treat it as real discretionary money rather than excluding it as passive. The caveat is that ASX substantial-holder notices are filed for the BlackRock group as a whole, so we cannot separate the active mandate from BlackRock's index vehicles. Institutional ownership is 53.7%; no other named holder and no insider transactions are on record.

AI take

FireFly Metals' update on the Green Bay (Ming Mine) restart study, Newfoundland (27 Jul 2026): exceptional high-grade Core Zone drilling results are being incorporated into an updated Mineral Resource Estimate feeding a PEA/Scoping Study for an upscaled restart, on track for completion end of August 2026 -- AFTER this research pass, so no NPV/IRR/mine-life figures exist yet for this project. The Nov 2025 resource update (50.4 Mt at 2.0% CuEq M&I, including an 8.8 Mt at 3.9% CuEq high-grade Core Zone) remains the latest published resource; it is stated in tonnes/%CuEq, not troy ounces, so ouncesFound is intentionally left null per this batch's file-header note on COPPER-commodity ouncesFound.
