Multi-Metalalso:Iron Creek Cobalt-Copper Project, Idaho, USA (+ battery-materials refinery, Ontario, Canada) Map

Electra Battery Materials Corporation (TSXV/Nasdaq: ELBM), formerly First Cobalt Corp., is building North America's only fully permitted refinery for battery-grade cobalt and nickel sulfate, near Cobalt, Ontario, and owns 100% of the Iron Creek cobalt-copper deposit in Lemhi County, Idaho, one of only a few primary cobalt-copper deposits in the United States. Refinery commissioning is targeted for the fourth quarter of 2026, mechanical completion for the second quarter of 2027 and commercial production for the fourth quarter of 2027. The refinery will start on third-party cobalt feed: the company has secured all of the feedstock it needs for commissioning and ramp-up from outside suppliers, so Iron Creek's ore does not feed it in the initial phase. Iron Creek's indicated resource contains 8,330 t of cobalt and 32,448 t of copper; at the technical report's prices cobalt is about two-thirds of that value and copper about a third. The company's stage follows Iron Creek, which has no economic study yet, while the refinery's construction financing shows in its company-wide cash and debt.

Acquisition Susceptibility

How this is calculated
4.7/10
Unlikely bolt-onFits the takeout profile

A relative ranking of how closely this company matches the profile of juniors that have actually been acquired — not a probability, and not a reason to buy. Acquisitions are rare: only a few dozen significant deals happen a year across a universe of thousands of juniors, so even a high score here describes a long shot. The strongest signal in the research, a producer that already owns part of the company, is scored from its disclosed strategic shareholders. A producer that is a joint-venture or earn-in partner on the project, rather than a shareholder, isn't captured yet.
