Barksdale Resources Corp. (TSXV: BRO) is earning into the Sunnyside copper-gold-silver porphyry project in the Patagonia Mountains, southern Arizona, ~1.5 hours south of Tucson, via a staged earn-in with Great Basin Metals (formerly Regal Resources Inc.). Barksdale completed its Phase II earn-in on 28 Aug 2026 (paying $550,000 cash + issuing 4,900,000 common shares, subject to a 4-month hold), increasing its interest from 51% to 67.5% -- Great Basin Metals retains the other 32.5%. 2026 reverse-circulation drilling has delineated an expanding copper porphyry system, including two 61-metre-thick stacked zones grading 0.90-0.93% Cu, and the company has engaged AI-driven target modeling (VRIFY) and an airborne ZTEM geophysical survey to refine further drill targets. No NI 43-101 Mineral Resource has been defined at Sunnyside yet. Barksdale also owns 100% of the San Javier copper project in Sonora, Mexico, after completing its payments to Tusk Exploration in July 2026. Its Cerro Verde deposit carries a Measured and Indicated Mineral Resource of 70.1 Mt at 0.271% copper (419 million lb, effective 31 October 2022), the basis of a January 2024 Preliminary Economic Assessment for a heap-leach copper-cathode operation.

Acquisition Susceptibility

How this is calculated
6.2/10
Unlikely bolt-onFits the takeout profile

A relative ranking of how closely this company matches the profile of juniors that have actually been acquired — not a probability, and not a reason to buy. Acquisitions are rare: only a few dozen significant deals happen a year across a universe of thousands of juniors, so even a high score here describes a long shot. The strongest signal in the research, a producer that already owns part of the company, is scored from its disclosed strategic shareholders. A producer that is a joint-venture or earn-in partner on the project, rather than a shareholder, isn't captured yet.

How this score is built

  • Disclosed pending deal
    Sub-score: Not scored

No pending acquisition or merger disclosed (checked)

Not scored: having no deal in flight isn't held against a company.

  • Producer's strategic stake
    Sub-score: Not scored

No producer holds a disclosed stake on file (holder register researched) See holders

Not scored: most juniors that do get bought had no prior toehold, so a missing stake says little either way.

Technical Report Takeaways

Barksdale Resources is earning into the Sunnyside copper-gold-silver porphyry project in the Patagonia Mountains of Santa Cruz County, southern Arizona, through a staged earn-in with Great Basin Metals, formerly Regal Resources. Completing Phase II of the earn-in on 28 August 2026, with a cash payment and the issue of 4,900,000 shares, raised Barksdale's interest from 51% to 67.5%, with Great Basin holding the remaining 32.5%, and Barksdale chairs the project's management committee with three of its five delegates. Drilling in 2026 is still delineating the extent of the porphyry system and has returned two 61 m zones grading 0.90% to 0.93% copper, and no resource has yet been estimated.
