CopperGreat Burnt Copper-Gold Project (73.51%; JV with Homeland Nickel), central Newfoundland, Canada Map

Benton Resources Inc. (TSXV: BEX) is advancing the Great Burnt copper-gold project in central Newfoundland, in which it holds a 73.51% interest (deemed at 31 December 2025 after joint-venture partner Homeland Nickel stopped contributing). The project covers 25km of strike with six known copper-gold-silver zones, most still open; recent drilling confirmed a new VMS copper discovery at the End Zone and outlined a gold-copper horizon at the South Pond deposit. In July 2026 Benton agreed with privately held Silverback Metals Corp. to spin Great Burnt and other projects out into a new Silverback-led public company at a $15.0 million valuation, alongside a concurrent $10.0 million financing; Benton shareholders would hold 45% of the new company directly and Benton would keep 5% and a 1% royalty. The spin-out needs a shareholder vote (planned for about mid-October 2026), court approval and a TSX Venture listing. Benton also explores the Dominion gold-base metal project in Newfoundland, where channel sampling returned up to 30.53 g/t Au in September 2026.

Acquisition Susceptibility

How this is calculated
5.7/10
Unlikely bolt-onFits the takeout profile

A relative ranking of how closely this company matches the profile of juniors that have actually been acquired — not a probability, and not a reason to buy. Acquisitions are rare: only a few dozen significant deals happen a year across a universe of thousands of juniors, so even a high score here describes a long shot. The strongest signal in the research, a producer that already owns part of the company, is scored from its disclosed strategic shareholders. A producer that is a joint-venture or earn-in partner on the project, rather than a shareholder, isn't captured yet.

How this score is built

  • Disclosed pending deal
    Sub-score: Not scored

A disclosed corporate action (not an acquisition or merger)

A corporate action of this kind says nothing about takeover susceptibility, so it isn't scored.

Not scored: most juniors that do get bought had no prior toehold, so a missing stake says little either way.
