Golden Minerals Company is a Colorado-headquartered precious-metals company that has been reduced to an exploration-only shell following a multi-year wind-down. Mining at its Velardena properties in Mexico ceased in February 2024, and during 2025 the company completed the final transfer of the remaining Velardena assets (plant and water wells for US$1.2 million, subsidiaries for US$0.6 million), ending all involvement with Velardena and shedding legacy Mexican liabilities. What remains is two exploration properties: Desierto/Sarita Este, a gold-silver-copper project in Salta Province, Argentina, where joint-venture documentation with Cascadero Copper Corporation is in progress, and Sand Canyon in Nevada, a gold-silver exploration property in which Golden holds a 60% interest and where JV documentation is likewise being finalized. Neither remaining property carries a published mineral resource estimate, which is why the company is recorded at GRASSROOTS stage despite its long operating history. The company was delisted from NYSE American and moved to the OTCQB market in 2025; its Toronto Stock Exchange listing under the same symbol was explicitly unaffected and continues. Its Q2 2026 filing states substantial doubt about the company's ability to continue as a going concern, with roughly US$2.5 million of cash at 30 June 2026 expected to fund operations only into early-to-mid 2027 absent asset sales or new financing. Share count rose from 15,053,048 at end-2025 to 18,893,048 following a May 2026 private placement to Streamline Metals Capital Ltd. at US$0.2290 per share.

A relative ranking of how closely this company matches the profile of juniors that have actually been acquired — not a probability, and not a reason to buy. Acquisitions are rare: only a few dozen significant deals happen a year across a universe of thousands of juniors, so even a high score here describes a long shot. The strongest signal the underlying research identifies — whether a major already holds a JV, earn-in, or 5–19.9% strategic stake — isn't tracked yet and is absent from this score.
