Atico Mining Corporation (TSXV: ATY) is a producing underground copper-gold miner. Atico acquired 90% of Minera El Roble S.A., owner of the El Roble mine at Carmen de Atrato, Choco, Colombia (1,000 tpd nominal plant capacity), on 22 Nov 2013, and operates the mine directly. El Roble has been in continuous commercial production since 1990, reporting Q1 2026 production of 2.09 million lbs Cu and 2,108 oz Au and Q2 2026 production of 2.08 million lbs Cu and 1,465 oz Au in concentrate (gold down 38% YoY, attributed to head-grade and equipment timing, with company guidance for H2 2026 gains). El Roble's current reserve base supports a life of mine to Q1-2027 only. Atico's 100%-owned La Plata project (Department of Pichincha, ~100km SW of Quito, Ecuador) is a gold-rich VMS deposit that saw small-scale historical production in 1975-1981 (Outokumpu Finland) and has been advanced under a March 2024 investment agreement with the Government of Ecuador into the economic-evaluation stage under Ecuador's Medium Scale regime.

Milestones are recorded only from a company's own dated disclosure. A milestone with no date shown is one we can confirm was reached but for which no date was disclosed — we don't estimate one. "Not yet reached" means exactly that, not that a date is missing. An "Expected" line likewise only ever reflects the company's own guidance (e.g. a study or permit decision targeted for a stated quarter) — most not-yet-reached milestones have none, and that absence means no such guidance has been disclosed, not that one is overdue.
Jurisdiction (40%)5/10
The producing El Roble mine is in Carmen de Atrato, in Colombia's Choco Department, a remote, historically less-developed region with higher security and logistics risk than Colombia's mainstream mining areas such as Antioquia. Its La Plata project is in Ecuador.
Infrastructure (40%)10/10
A confirmed mill, confirmed road access, confirmed grid power, and a confirmed tailings facility at El Roble Copper-Gold Mine, Carmen de Atrato, Choco, Colombia.
Nearby producing mine (20%)Not yet researched
No producing mine within 50 km in our reference list (nearest listed: Marmato Upper Mine (Zona Alta) (Aris Mining Corporation), 77 km). That list doesn't cover every mining district yet, so a longer distance isn't scored as remote.
Acquisition Susceptibility
A relative ranking of how closely this company matches the profile of juniors that have actually been acquired — not a probability, and not a reason to buy. Acquisitions are rare: only a few dozen significant deals happen a year across a universe of thousands of juniors, so even a high score here describes a long shot. The strongest signal in the research, a producer that already owns part of the company, is scored from its disclosed strategic shareholders. A producer that is a joint-venture or earn-in partner on the project, rather than a shareholder, isn't captured yet.

Not scored: having no deal in flight isn't held against a company.

Not scored: most juniors that do get bought had no prior toehold, so a missing stake says little either way.

Reports, Presentations & Documents
Atico Mining operates the underground El Roble copper-gold mine at Carmen de Atrato in Colombia's Chocó department, in which it acquired a 90% interest in November 2013 and which has produced continuously since 1990 through a plant with nominal capacity of 1,000 tpd. El Roble produced 2.09 million lb of copper and 2,108 oz of gold in the first quarter of 2026 and 2.08 million lb of copper and 1,465 oz of gold in the second, when it sold 4,989 dmt of concentrate for revenue of US$17.4M. Its reserves, 828,000 t at 2.49% copper and 2.20 g/t gold in the March 2024 update, support mining only to the first quarter of 2027. Atico also owns 100% of the La Plata gold-rich copper-zinc deposit about 100km south-west of Quito, Ecuador, which has an indicated resource of 2.345 Mt at 2.13% copper and 2.98 g/t gold and an initial probable reserve of 2.51 Mt, and which is advancing under a March 2024 investment agreement with Ecuador's government.
