Asara Resources Limited (formerly Golden Rim Resources Ltd, renamed Dec 2023) is an ASX-listed gold explorer/developer. Flagship asset is the Kada Gold Project in eastern Guinea, where Asara holds a 51% interest with an option to earn up to 75% by funding a Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS not yet completed -- Asara does not yet hold majority ownership outright, an important caveat for any NAV-style calculation). Kada carries a JORC (2012) Mineral Resource Estimate of 30.3Mt @ 0.95-1.0 g/t Au for 923,000oz (391koz oxide / 145koz transitional / 387koz fresh; ~24% classified Indicated), reported 1 Oct 2023 under the Golden Rim Resources name pre-rename; the Massan Deposit sub-zone carries a 2023 maiden MRE of 224koz Indicated + 682koz Inferred, open along strike and at depth. Asara also holds the Kouri Gold Project (Burkina Faso), and the Paguanta Copper/Silver-Lead-Zinc Project plus Patricia Prospect and Loreto Copper Project (Chile, where Teck Chile holds an option/JV to earn up to 75% of Loreto).

What goes into it
  • Jurisdiction (40%)4/10

Guinea (West Africa) carries materially higher sovereign/operational risk than Tier-1 jurisdictions -- evolving mining code, infrastructure gaps, and regional political risk are standard considerations for West African gold explorers.

  • Infrastructure (40%)6.4/10

Confirmed road access at Kada Gold Project, Guinea; existing mill, grid power, and tailings facility not yet researched, counted at a neutral 5/10 until established.

  • Nearby producing mine (20%)Not yet researched

No producing mine within 50 km in our reference list (nearest listed: Fekola (B2Gold Corp.), 260 km). That list doesn't cover every mining district yet, so a longer distance isn't scored as remote.

Acquisition Susceptibility

How this is calculated
2.6/10
Unlikely bolt-onFits the takeout profile

A relative ranking of how closely this company matches the profile of juniors that have actually been acquired — not a probability, and not a reason to buy. Acquisitions are rare: only a few dozen significant deals happen a year across a universe of thousands of juniors, so even a high score here describes a long shot. The strongest signal in the research, a producer that already owns part of the company, is scored from its disclosed strategic shareholders. A producer that is a joint-venture or earn-in partner on the project, rather than a shareholder, isn't captured yet.

How this score is built

  • Disclosed pending deal
    Sub-score: Not scored

No pending acquisition or merger disclosed (checked)

Not scored: having no deal in flight isn't held against a company.

  • Producer's strategic stake
    Sub-score: Not scored

No producer holds a disclosed stake on file (holder register researched) See holders

Not scored: most juniors that do get bought had no prior toehold, so a missing stake says little either way.

Franklin Resources lodged a Form 603 on 18 September 2025 disclosing 120 million shares, or 7.74% of Asara -- a dated, primary-sourced position by an active manager. Asara then raised A$60M at A$0.125 in May 2026 from what it described as tier-one international and domestic institutions, though none of them are named in the announcement. Pulling the other way, Schroder Investment Management Australia sold 60 million shares and ceased to be a substantial holder in August 2025. No producer or strategic corporate holder is disclosed on the Kada gold project, and the last insider purchase on record dates from August 2022.
