Austral Resources Australia LtdA
Austral Resources Australia Ltd (ASX: AR1) is a Queensland copper cathode producer built around the Mt Kelly heap-leach and solvent-extraction/electrowinning (SX-EW) processing plant near Mount Isa, which has operated since 2007 (predating Austral's own ownership) and produces LME Grade A copper cathode with a nameplate capacity of ~30,000 tonnes per annum. Austral's own flagship ore source is the Anthill oxide copper-gold mine: final regulatory approval to commence mining was received 25 Oct 2021, the first blast fired 16 Nov 2021, and the operation reached commercial production of LME Grade A copper cathode in Dec 2022. In a major strategic move, Austral terminated its Anthill Project Agreement with Glencore and Secover for a total ~A$51.98 million (a ~A$37.6 million cash payment plus 159,830,504 new shares issued at A$0.09/share, ~A$14.38 million, settled 31 Jul 2026) -- ending a prior offtake/royalty-style arrangement to capture full, un-shared copper production and boost output at Mt Kelly. The company also holds Lady Annie, Lady Colleen, Cameron River and Miranda in the same district, and in the June 2026 quarter opened new mining fronts at Lady Annie and expanded drilling after a high-grade copper-gold discovery at the Snow Queen prospect. A second, larger growth engine -- restarting the past-producing Rocklands sulphide concentrator (acquired with a ~A$19.67 million net-proceeds transaction referenced in the June 2026 quarter) to run alongside Mt Kelly as a genuine dual-hub oxide/sulphide producer -- is under active refurbishment (front-end circuit redesign complete, a 4.75MW SAG mill acquired, GR Engineering Services appointed for engineering/construction management) but is NOT yet built or in construction in its own right: sulphide ore haulage is targeted for Q1 2027 ahead of a mid-2027 recommissioning target, so no Rocklands-specific construction milestones are written here (per this backlog's 'don't write milestones for things that haven't happened yet' convention, Task #620's NXE precedent) -- all milestone rows below are Anthill/Mt-Kelly-anchored, the asset actually in production today.

5 of 5 reached- Oct 2021 · Final regulatory approval to commence mining at Anthill was received 25 Oct 2021. Full-date precision, primary-announcement-era sourced (globalminingreview.com / australianresourcesandinvestment.com.au coverage of the approval). · Source
- Reached — date not disclosed · No distinct, separately-dated board Final Investment Decision announcement was found in this pass's available coverage, distinguishable from the 25 Oct 2021 regulatory-approval date used for PERMIT_GRANTED immediately above -- left undated rather than reusing that date as if it were a second, independently-confirmed event. Row exists to satisfy the stage=PRODUCTION lifecycle-gate check (src/lib/lifecycle-gates.ts), applicable cumulatively at CONSTRUCTION-or-later stages per Task #619/#620/#622 precedent. · Source
- Nov 2021 · First blast fired at Anthill 16 Nov 2021, a genuine physical-construction/mining-start milestone, following (not preceding) the 25 Oct 2021 regulatory approval -- a normal-order sequence (contrast SFR's Motheo in Task #622, where site works genuinely preceded the permit). Full-date precision, primary-announcement sourced. · Source
- Jun 2022 · First copper cathode produced at Anthill, completing site development and Mt Kelly plant commissioning for the new ore source, per Jun 2022 trade-press coverage (article-date sourced; exact day not independently confirmed this pass). Month precision only. · Source
- Dec 2022 · Anthill achieved commercial production of LME Grade A copper cathode in Dec 2022. Month precision only. · Source
Milestones are recorded only from a company's own dated disclosure. A milestone with no date shown is one we can confirm was reached but for which no date was disclosed — we don't estimate one. "Not yet reached" means exactly that, not that a date is missing. An "Expected" line likewise only ever reflects the company's own guidance (e.g. a study or permit decision targeted for a stated quarter) — most not-yet-reached milestones have none, and that absence means no such guidance has been disclosed, not that one is overdue.
A relative ranking of how closely this company matches the profile of juniors that have actually been acquired — not a probability, and not a reason to buy. Acquisitions are rare: only a few dozen significant deals happen a year across a universe of thousands of juniors, so even a high score here describes a long shot. The strongest signal the underlying research identifies — whether a major already holds a JV, earn-in, or 5–19.9% strategic stake — isn't tracked yet and is absent from this score.

ouncesFound is deliberately left null per this repo's still-open Task #324 ouncesFound/copper-unit policy question, same convention as this backlog's other copper producers. dcfNpvUsd/irrPct/technicalReportPriceAssumptionUsd: no consolidated, current company-wide feasibility-study economics were found for the current Anthill/Mt Kelly operation in this pass's available coverage (Anthill's Apr 2021 CSA Global mining study produced a JORC Ore Reserve of 5.1Mt at 0.94% Cu / 47.7kt contained copper, cited in mineLifeYears's source, but no distinct NPV/IRR figure was found alongside it). Rocklands' restart economics were also not found published this pass -- it is pre-construction/refurbishment, not yet a sanctioned project with its own disclosed study output as far as this pass's research found.
